How does the shipping process work for Ohio Homestead Beef?

Our cuts of beef are individually frozen and packaged. We ship our beef using insulated packaging and dry ice through UPS. Items will arrive still frozen, partially thawed, or still chilled. As long as your beef is still cold and cool to the touch on arrival, it is safe to eat or refreeze. Because of the known perishability of food products, we cannot be held liable for the product following time of delivery.

You will  receive order updates from UPS via the email address provided to us during the checkout process and buyer assumes responsibility of properly receiving and refrigerating or freezing their product upon immediate delivery. If your beef is warm at the time of delivery, please contact us immediately.

What day will my order ship?

All orders are shipped on Tuesdays only, to ensure that perishable items arrive cool and before the weekend. The cutoff for shipping is on Monday at 11:59 PM. Orders received after 11:59 PM on Mondays with shipping requested will automatically ship on Tuesday of the following week.

Can I pick up my beef directly from your Farm?

How does my purchase stay cool and fresh?

Great question! First off; we use Heavy-Duty Boxes that provide superior protection and stacking strength. The material is ECT-44 single wall kraft corrugated, provides great protection, and is a recyclable material. For the lining of the boxes, we use CorrCool Insulated Liners. These are made from over 95% post-industrial content. This earth-friendly insulation is also recyclable with your paper and cardboard. It offers an exceptional insulating value as well as an additional cushioned protection for your products. We also have Therma Bags that are designed to extend the insulating effects by 25-40% without adding bulk to your shipment! Our desire is to get the product to you in the best condition possible - these products are an essential part of our system!

How should I store my beef once it arrives?

Beef should be refrigerated promptly, even if you plan to cook it within 2–3 days. For longer storage, it can be frozen for up to 12 months. Each cut is vacuum-sealed to ensure freshness and longevity.

How do I properly thaw frozen beef?

For best results, thaw in the refrigerator for 24–48 hours. For quicker thawing, place the sealed package in a bowl of cold water (never warm or hot) and cook immediately after thawing.

Is your beef hormone and antibiotic free?

Yes. Our cattle are raised without the use of added hormones or antibiotics, offering you beef that’s clean, natural, and raised with integrity.

What does ā€œpasture-raised and grain-finishedā€ mean?

Our cattle graze freely on pasture for most of their lives, which promotes natural behavior and a healthy diet. In the final months, they are finished on a grain-based diet to enhance marbling and flavor, providing the best of both worlds.

What is regenerative farming and why does it matter?

Regenerative farming is a sustainable, soil-first approach that improves land health through rotational grazing and ecosystem balance. It results in better soil, healthier cattle, and a more resilient food system.
